There's more to radiology than meets the eye.
This is the world of radiology. As fellowship-trained radiologists—medical doctors who use medical imaging technologies to diagnose and treat conditions, diseases and injuries—we specialize in both diagnostic imaging services and interventional radiological services.

Modalities & Equipment
Acumen employs a variety of imaging modalities and equipment, including:
Computed Tomography (CT)
Gives us a peek at internal organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels—all of your body’s essential components.
Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
Our radiologists can identify the functionality of tissues and organs by using a radiotracer attached to glucose which is injected into a vein through a catheter.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic fields and pulses of radio wave energy—the advanced technology that allows our radiologists to assess the internal injuries you can’t see.
Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
Strong bones. Stronger body. We use DEXA scanning to make sure your bone density lives up to your physical expectations.
Mammography
Breast imaging that can detect cancer early and when it matters the most to you—and us.
X-Ray
An electromagnetic wave imaging process that creates black and white pictures of a patient’s internal body—and particularly useful when assessing bone damage.
Ultrasound (US)
Also known as a sonography, our radiologists use the power of sound to create pictures that allow them to peer into the human body.
Nuclear Medicine
Utilizing numerous imaging techniques (including CT, MRI and CT/PET services), nuclear medicine equipment helps our radiologists diagnose and determine the severity of a variety of diseases.
Diagnostic Imaging Services
Our doctors use medical imaging technologies to examine the inner workings of the human body, including injuries and diseases. We see problems early by interpreting the results of your exam and can provide an accurate diagnosis to your referring physician.
Musculo-Skeletal Imaging
Whether you’ve suffered from a sports injury, felt joint stiffness or experienced bone and soft tissue tumors, our radiologists can quickly assess your every musculo-skeletal trauma need at the world renowned Andrew’s Institute.
Breast Imaging
Our fellowship-trained mammographers understand the importance of breast cancer screenings—and we know you do, too. We offer 3D screening and diagnostic mammograms to give you a full picture of your health.
Body Imaging
A single procedure, a faster diagnosis. Our non-invasive, internal body imaging capabilities lead to speedier treatment and intervention with more successful outcomes.
Neuroradiology
If you’ve experienced a spine, head or neck injury, our neuroimaging techniques diagnose and characterize the damage with precision-point focus—so you can return to doing the things you love.
Nuclear Medicine
Utilizing radiotracers our radiologists diagnose and treat a variety of diseases involving the bones, lungs, thyroid, and gastrointestinal. In addition to diagnosing and evaluating tumors.
Interventional Radiology
Less risk, less pain, less recovery time. A sub-specialty of radiology that utilizes minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases right at the source.
Interventional Services
In addition to diagnostic imaging, our doctors use the power of imaging technologies to employ minimally invasive, image-guided surgeries and treatments of conditions that often result in less trauma and pain to the body, require less anesthesia and shortens overall hospital stay and recovery time.
Spinal & Vertebral Services (Fractures)
Acumen offers Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty treatment—an outpatient procedure using imaging guidance which can be done under conscious sedation —to aid patients with vertebral pain and proactively treat fractures and related symptoms.
Cancer Services (Oncology)
Our oncological treatments are comprehensive—and effective. We offer biopsies to diagnose bone, breast, kidney, liver and lung cancer. Targeted, direct treatment of existing tumors and cancer can be provided specifically for the kidney, liver and lung areas.
Women's Health
While a hysterectomy is the most common treatment of uterine fibroids, Acumen officers a different option for women – uterine fibroid embolization. It’s the alternative to a major surgical procedure and is performed using a non-invasive technique. In addition, a patient that presents with pelvic congestion can be treated with a uterine artery embolization. The same procedure can be performed to stop post traumatic bleeding.
Vascular Diseases (Peripheral)
Our radiologists treat peripheral vascular and arterial disease through the use of a technique used to treat blockages and narrowing of the veins and arteries. These procedures may include angioplasty, thrombolytic therapy or stents which act like a scaffolding and hold the vessel open. Stent-grafting may be done by inserting a stent into the blood vessel to bypass diseased arteries and a procedure called atherectomy which is used to remove atherosclerosis.
Stroke Treatment
Our radiologists employ many interventional techniques and services including treatment of stroke though a procedure referred to as a clot retrieval. This is done using a minimally invasive technique to remove a blood clot in the brain that is too large to be treated with the use of blood thinners.
