John J. Baehr III, M.D. (Emeritus)
A Pensacola native, Dr. Baehr is the son of a locally prominent physician radiologist. He attended Pensacola Catholic High School, and graduate cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Tulane University in 1971 with a B.S. in chemistry. He received his M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1975. In medical school, he was elected to the honorary fraternity AOA during his junior year and received the J.T. Halsey prize in Pharmacology. After an internal medicine internship at the University of California at San Francisco, he took his residency in diagnostic radiology at UCSF, serving as chief resident in 1978-1979.
Dr. Baehr has practiced Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology in Pensacola for 36 years, and currently serves as President for the Acumen team.
Dr. Baehr’s professional memberships include American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, Society of Computed Body Tomography, American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Society of Breast Imaging. He has served on numerous committees at Baptist and Gulf Breeze Hospitals including positions as President of the Gulf Breeze Medical Staff in 1988, Chairman of the Baptist Medical Board in 1991, and President of Baptist Hospital Medical Staff in 1994. In 1998, the American Board of Radiology awarded him the Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. In 2014, he received the Hollinger Award for Physician of the Year.
Dr. Baehr has been happily married to his high school sweetheart, Anne Rue Baehr, for 45 years and has two sons and four fabulous grandchildren. He worships at Trinity Presbyterian Church where he serves as an elder.
